General
June Gold Forming™ is our signature jewellery-making process. It’s an innovation that combines certified 24K gold with a 925 sterling silver foundation through a specialised controlled bonding technique.
Rather than applying a thin decorative layer of gold onto an affordable base metal that can wear away over time, June Gold Forming™ structurally bonds real 24K gold onto precious sterling silver. This creates jewellery made entirely from precious metals.
The result is a piece that retains the rich colour and appearance of 24K gold while also preserving the inherent value of the precious metals used over years.
this solves some of the most common frustrations associated with fashion jewellery and plating:
No cheap base metals underneath. Every June piece is crafted using precious metals - certified 24K gold and 925 sterling silver.
Unlike thin gold coatings that can fade, peel, or reveal a different-coloured metal beneath over time, June Gold Forming™ uses real 24K gold as part of the jewellery's structure, not simply as a surface polish or colour treatment.
Retains precious metal value. Both the gold and silver used in your piece have inherent material value, unlike costume jewellery where the underlying metal has little to no intrinsic worth.
Traditional solid gold jewellery often requires reducing the amount of gold used to keep pieces accessible, which can limit design possibilities. June Gold Forming™ allows us to create both bold statement pieces and delicate everyday styles while maintaining a more accessible price point.
Made to be worn regularly. June Gold Forming™ was developed for people who want fine jewellery they can wear often, not just save for special occasions. It allows you to build a collection of precious jewellery over time, one that grows and evolves alongside you.
Every June piece comes with a certificate of material authenticity detailing its precious metal composition and Gold Forming™ specifications. Each design carries real precious metal value and is created to be worn, kept, and loved for years to come, with long-term servicing and support designed to make that journey seamless.
24K, 22K, and 18K gold differ in the amount of pure gold they contain. 24K gold is 99.9% pure gold and is known for its rich yellow colour and high intrinsic value. 22K gold contains 91.6% pure gold, with the remaining percentage made up of other metals to improve strength and durability. 18K gold contains 75% pure gold and 25% alloy metals, making it the most durable of the three for everyday jewellery. In general, higher karat gold contains more pure gold, while lower karat gold contains a greater proportion of alloy metals for added strength. The choice between them depends on the desired balance of purity, colour, durability, and wearability.
While all four may look similar at first glance, the materials used and the way they are constructed are fundamentally different.
Gold Plating applies a thin layer of gold onto a non-precious base metal such as brass, copper, or steel. While it offers the appearance of gold at a lower price point, the gold layer is primarily decorative and can wear away over time, eventually exposing the underlying metal. If you've ever owned jewellery that started turning darker, revealed a silver or copper-coloured metal underneath, or lost its gold appearance after regular wear, it was likely plated jewellery.
Gold Vermeil is a higher-quality version of plating where a layer of gold is applied over sterling silver rather than a base metal. While the underlying silver retains value, the outer gold layer remains a surface coating and may gradually wear with use. Over time, with regular wear, the outer gold layer can gradually wear down, revealing the metal beneath. This is why some vermeil jewellery may appear lighter or more silver-toned in areas that experience frequent friction.
Solid Gold jewellery is made entirely from a gold alloy, typically 18K, 22K, or 24K. It offers the highest gold content and intrinsic value, but the amount of gold required can make larger designs significantly more expensive and less accessible specifically for larger statement pieces where a substantial amount of gold is required.
June Gold Forming™ combines certified 24K gold with a 925 sterling silver foundation through a specialised controlled bonding process. Rather than relying on a decorative surface coating, real 24K gold becomes part of the jewellery's structure itself.
This approach addresses some of the most common frustrations associated with traditional plated jewellery:
No non-precious metals. Every June piece is crafted using certified 24K gold and 925 sterling silver.
Real gold, not just a gold-coloured finish. June Gold Forming™ uses actual 24K gold as part of the jewellery's construction, rather than relying solely on a cosmetic outer coating.
Preserves precious metal value. Both the gold and silver used in each piece have inherent material value.
Greater design freedom. By combining gold with a sterling silver foundation, we can create both substantial statement pieces and delicate everyday styles without the cost of comparable solid gold designs.
Designed to be worn often. June Gold Forming™ was developed for people who want to build a collection of precious jewellery they can wear regularly and add to over time.
While polish or plating prioritises appearance, solid gold prioritises purity, and June Gold Forming™ was developed to balance precious metal value, everyday wearability, design flexibility, and accessibility.
While June jewellery is designed to be durable and worn every day, proper care can help preserve its finish and longevity over time. Should your piece ever require a refresh, our June Care Programme offers professional servicing to help restore and maintain its appearance for years to come.
In the meantime, a few simple care practices can help keep your jewellery looking its best:
To keep your piece looking its best for longer, avoid unnecessary contact with harsh chemicals and cleaning products.
Store pieces separately in their June packaging when not in use to minimise scratches from other jewellery.
Avoid storing jewellery while damp
Gently wiping your jewellery with a soft cloth from time to time can help keep it clean and well maintained.
Small signs of wear are a natural characteristic of precious metals and part of owning jewellery that's meant to be worn.
Our servicing programme can help restore and maintain its appearance, allowing you to enjoy it for years to come.
